Uçhisar Cappadocia

The Cappadocia Region, whose political and cultural history dates back thousands of years before the invention of writing, has been the cradle of many different civilizations. Independent studies have been carried out on Nevşehir, which is a unique region of the Anatolian geography both politically and religiously, and a considerable amount of copyrighted works have been produced for those who are curious about the history of the region. The first edition of this study, which we prepared specifically for Uçhisar, was published in a limited number in 2021 and was presented to researchers. Due to the favor shown to the work, it was necessary to reprint the work as of 2024.

The Cappadocia Region, which was known in the Hittite language as “the homeland of the people of the God Hepat” according to Bilge Umar, hosted many deep-rooted civilizations as an inevitable result of geography. Many structures in the town of Uçhisar within the borders of the “Goreme National Park”, one of the 18 assets that were included in the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1985, have been taken under protection as a “monumental asset” by the Council of Europe’s Natural and Cultural Heritage Conservation Inventory and the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums of Turkey.
