“A Simple Heart”, known also A Simple Soul, is a story about a servant girl named Felicité. Born as a member of the working class, Felicité is a character who does not give up on her masters no matter what happens to her. She willingly gives her master’s, Madame Aubain, two children her love, mourns their sorrow and rejoices in their happiness. Felicite, a woman of simple mind and devoted heart, suffers tremendous loss but continues to her last breath to love unconditionally. Among all these emotional fluctuations, Felicité experiences trust against love, patience against tyranny, and virtue against betrayal.
